A Strong Start to 2026 at Make-Room! Covington
The first quarter of 2026 has already been full of growth, new ideas, and exciting momentum for Make-Room! Covington.
One of our biggest focuses this year has been expanding our walk-in creative activities so visitors can stop in and start making anytime. We’ve added a variety of new options including wooden plaque embroidery kits, crochet kits, paint-by-numbers, watercolor sets, barn quilt painting, and more. Whether someone has five minutes or a whole afternoon, we want there to always be something creative waiting at the table.
Behind the scenes, we’ve also been working on expanding our workspace for makers. Our goal is to create a quieter, more focused area where people can use tools like our 3D printer, xTool laser, and heat press, with access to computers for designing and project work. This dedicated space will give makers a comfortable environment to focus, experiment, and bring their ideas to life.
Community connection continues to be a big part of what we do. We’ve been working to grow our partnerships with local organizations and groups, creating opportunities for activities, experiences, and team-building events that bring people together through creativity.
We were also incredibly honored this quarter to be nominated by the Alleghany Highlands Chamber of Commerce for two awards:
• The Dogwood Beautification Award, recognizing investment in property and contributions to the beauty of the community
• Website of the Year
To celebrate the nominations and the many small business successes in our region, Leigh, deShawn, and our Employee of the Year, Paul, enjoyed a fun evening at the Omni Homestead Resort & Spa, surrounded by fellow entrepreneurs and community leaders from across the Alleghany Highlands.
It was a wonderful reminder that building something meaningful takes a community—and we’re grateful to be part of one that continues to support creativity, small businesses, and new ideas.
